Bonnie and Clyde
Series & LoreThe famous outlaw couple that the Jason and Lucia partnership is often compared to, hinting at a ride-or-die criminal romance.
Character Switching
GameplaySwapping between playable protagonists on the fly, a mechanic introduced in GTA 5. Expected to feature with Jason and Lucia in GTA 6.
Cheat Code
GameplayA special input that triggers an effect in single-player, such as full health, weapons or a spawned vehicle. Using one typically disables trophies for that session.
Cheat Phone
GameplayA system from GTA 5 where cheats are dialled as phone numbers rather than button combinations. A likely candidate to return in GTA 6.
CJ
Series & LoreCarl Johnson, the protagonist of 2004 classic GTA: San Andreas. A fan favourite and a frequent point of comparison for new leads.
Franklin, Michael & Trevor
Series & LoreThe three playable protagonists of GTA 5, whose interwoven stories set the template for the dual-lead structure of GTA 6.
GTA Online
GameplayThe persistent multiplayer mode that runs alongside the single-player campaign. Cheats never work here, and it is a separate experience from story mode.
Heist
GameplayA multi-stage robbery mission with planning, a crew and a payoff. A signature set piece of modern GTA games.
HESOYAM
Series & LoreThe legendary San Andreas cheat code that refilled health, armor and money. A symbol of the classic typed-cheat era of GTA.
Jason
PeopleOne of the two playable protagonists in GTA 6. A man looking for an easy life in the Leonida Keys who keeps getting pulled back into trouble. Forms a criminal partnership with Lucia.
Leonida
PlacesThe fictional US state that GTA 6 is set in, a modern take on Florida. It contains Vice City along with keys, wetlands and miles of coastline.
Leonida Keys
PlacesA chain of sun-bleached islands and causeways south of Vice City, inspired by the Florida Keys. Boats, bridges and small-town trouble.
Liberty City
PlacesRockstar's fictional New York City, the setting of GTA 3 and GTA 4. Part of the wider series map of stand-in American cities.
Los Santos
PlacesThe fictional Los Angeles featured in GTA 5 and San Andreas. Mentioned here for context; GTA 6 moves the action east to Leonida.
Lucia
PeopleThe second playable protagonist and the first female lead in the modern GTA era. Her story opens with a hard-won second chance alongside Jason.
Open World
GameplayA freely explorable map with no loading walls between areas. GTA 6 is described as the largest and most detailed world in the series so far.
Preload
EditionsDownloading the game files ahead of launch so you can play the moment servers go live. GTA 6 preload is set for November 12, 2026.
Protagonist
PeopleA playable lead character. GTA 6 features two, Jason and Lucia, with a shared story told from both perspectives.
